CTAS Writing Support offers an array of services that support your efforts
as an instructor. Here are some ways we can help your students learn to improve
and polish their writing:
Classroom
Presentations: A writing tutor can visit your classroom and
describe our services.
Tutoring Sessions:
One-on-one tutoring sessions in CTAS Writing Support are our most popular
and beneficial service for students. These free, 50-minute sessions are
available to all QCC students, regardless of which discipline the writing is
for. Highly trained tutors will sit with your students to provide feedback and
assistance at any stage of the writing process, from brainstorming to reviewing
a full draft.
Rest assured that we work with your students, and will not do the work for
them. Therefore, we will never simply proofread or correct an assignment.
Instead, we use a student-centered approach to enhance students' skills and
confidence as writers. You will receive a progress log through interoffice mail
shortly after your student visits; this log will note which topics and skills
were covered in the session.
Students can schedule tutoring sessions up to a week in advance, or they can
walk in and request a session any time CTAS Writing Support is open. They can
even upload a paper draft to our TigerWrite system and get feedback
from an e-tutor. More information about tutoring services is available
here.
