An Historical Overview: 1 Year Under Our Belt.

FY

2006-2007 cast the first set of footprints along an evolutionary trail of programmatic direction and design which the College began through mapping its institutional priorities in a 5-year strategic planning process.

And the Campus Writing Center took its first steps.

The College crafted a re-defined Mission Statement to better reflect its dedication to providing students an holistic learning experience - ensuring an integrative approach involving curricula, academic support, student support, and technology - such that students become partners in the transactions and processes of active learning.

No problem; we’d had lots of practice facilitating just such a paradigm when we established constructivism at the core of Instructional Support Services.

Emblematic of the revitalized Mission was the College’s commitment to initiate what might be called a “synthesis across pedagogical dialectics” - integrating elements of its CUNY Undergraduate Education (CUE) initiatives such that they meet the learning objectives identified by the College’s General Education Inquiry group, culminating in cohorts of students enrolled in common curricula engaged in collaborative learning academy activities, archiving and examining their own intellectual growth and academic experiences through the instrument of e-Portfolios.

It doesn’t get much better than that. Exactly where we’d hoped things would go.
