“How to Quote and Paraphrase  Two page sheet revised to reflect both MLA and APA guidelines.

 Glossary of Research Terms:  One-page document defining common terminology used for gathering information to write papers. (ie. “Boolean search”)

New Annotated Bibliography of Grammar / Writing – Related Websites (work in progress):  11-page document with over 75 annotated links by category.



Tutor Training    (turnkey to better acquisition of skills and strategies by students)


CWC Tutor Handbook, Spring 2007: Updated this 53-page booklet for the new semester.

 Tutoring Scenarios (set of 7): Used in tutor training to prompt tutors to come up with two different student-centered strategies to address the problems / issues in that scenario, i.e. WI strategies, Composition Theory applications, use of Critical Thinking skills

 Tutoring Session Dialog / Analysis Sheet:  This 4-page document starts with a fictional tutor – student dialog, then asks tutors to evaluate the session and make suggestions to improve the session.

 “Hot Tips For Handling Proofreading Requests”:  This one-page document gives tutors 7 different suggestions for turning a student’s proofreading request into a student-centered, productive session.

Tutor Role Playing Observation and Evaluation Sheet: Tutors use this sheet to evaluate 20-30 minute role-playing session.

CUNY Portal/Blackboard Instruction Sheet: To assist students and tutors in registration and access.

Wiki Q&A Sheet: Introducing tutors to the basics of using Blackboard’s wiki function.

Wiki Exploration Activities worksheet: Planner of activities in wiki usage for tutor trainings.

New Evaluation Form (student evaluation of services): One page, double-sided form asks students multiple questions about walk-in and appointment tutoring services, as well as customer support satisfaction.

Campus Writing Center FAQ Sheet: One-page sheet explaining what students can expect when coming for tutoring.  Includes a rationale for 30-minute walk-ins and our student-centered way of tutoring.
